Legend has it that after spending years on the magical island of “Music & Learning,” Capt'n Willie used his spyglass to look across the Great Lakes. He spotted the Michigan City In-Water Boat Show and set a course straight for it, ready to delight audiences with music, nautical nonsense, and trivia.

| Head out onto Lake Michigan for a free sail at the Discover Sailing Center, courtesy of Sail America. The sail fleet at Michigan City is always one of the largest to be shown in the water on the Great Lakes.

Meet local author John Otterbacher, whose award-winning book Sailing Grace chronicles the adventures and misadventures of a Great Lakes Sailor who takes his family on a six-year ocean cruise. The book was named Best New Non-Fiction Book by the National Indie Awards and was a finalist in the 2007 USA Book News National Best Book Awards.


South Bend, Ind., saxophonist Danny Lerman will make an appearance Friday, August 22 to help promote the Smooth Jazz at South Shore event that will be held next to the boat show August 23.
Lerman started playing in a big band at the age of 13 and has since shared concert bills with Herbie Hancock, Sergio Mendes, Richard Elliot, David Benoit, Eric Marienthal and the Ghetto Boys.


The home for pre-owned and noncurrent models has become a hotspot for buying activity since it was introduced a few years ago.
